Grama Sevika Scheme
Women with an inclination for service are encouraged to contribute their time and energy for the uplift of the downtrodden in remote villages. These volunteers are called Grama Sevikas. These sevikas are married women who stay with their families. Each sevika is assigned a few villages near her home. She regularly spends several hours every day organising the following multifaceted activities in those villages, contributing to their all-round development:
| Daily | Tuition Centre, Adult Education Centre, Tailoring Centre |
| Weekly | Samskar Kendra, Bhajans |
| Monthly | Deepa Pooja, Mahila Sangham |
| Periodically | Sports and games (especially during Pongal), Akshara Abhyasam during Vijayadasami, Village get-together |
| Ongoing | Motivating villagers to use Swadeshi goods |
Sevabharathi Tamilnadu pays an honorarium to the grama sevikas, in addition to reimbursing their travel expenses.
